Water blocks vs. concrete mattress – up to 90% lower carbon footprint with Tecomatic’s erosion control
A new technical study shows that Tecomatic’s erosion control using a concrete mattress has a significantly lower climate impact than traditional rip-rap — especially at high flow velocities.
The results show that CO₂ emissions can, in some cases, be up to 90 percent lower when using a concrete mattress, due to reduced material consumption and a more efficient design. Even though concrete itself has higher emissions per cubic metre than stone, the required volume is so much lower that total emissions are significantly reduced.
The study also highlights several additional benefits:
