Artificial reefs
Tecomatic offers artificial reefs for to create environments in our waterways for recreation and increased biodiversity..
Increasing biodiversity
Artificial reefs play an important role in preserving and restoring the marine ecosystem. Placing artificial reefs creates more opportunities for aquatic organisms to feed, hide and breed at the site. It provides a structure for seagrass, algae and plankton to grow on and acts as a catalyst for the natural re-establishment of marine species.
Tecomatic’s nets used in the creation of artificial reefs are made from 100% recycled material and adapted for marine environments with a lifespan of at least 50 years.
The benefits of using nets:
- Surface enlarging function using the mesh of the net.
- Effective breeding ground for biofilm as well as plants and algae.
- Ensures that what is placed can also be removed from the site in a controlled manner and without disturbance if required.
- Safe to handle during transportation, deployment and eventual retrieval.

Reed beds provide shelter and spawning and nursery habitats for fish in Riddarfjärden
Tecomatic also uses root curtains and rice vats in projects where our eco-piers and screen pools are used for effective water treatment.
A pilot project in the city of Stockholm is using old Christmas trees that are lowered into a gap on a so-called quayside balcony.
Customer solutions
Skanska - New Slussen
The redevelopment of the Slussen area in Stockholm has been ongoing for some time. Tecomatic is working on erosion protection in several parts of the area and in Mälardalen. One of the reasons for rebuilding Slussen is that the water level, and therefore the risk of flooding, is too high.
Merab
Merab (Mellanskånes Renhållnings AB) operates a waste facility and recycling center at Rönneholms mosse. The site also has three landfills, two closed and one active.
Baltic Offshore
Baltic Offshore was commissioned by Ellevio to install 420 kV (kilovolt) HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) cable and in connection with this protect Beckomberga-Bredäng.
Recycling industry
A customer in the recycling industry who, among other things, is engaged in the recycling of metals in southern Sweden needs sediment discharge in one of its treatment ponds.
Nacka municipality
Järlasjön is Nacka's largest lake and very important for outdoor recreation in the municipality, but despite reduced emissions from industries and households in the surrounding area, the water quality of the lake is threatened by poorly treated stormwater.
