Ongoing dredging project restores pond capacity

Table of contents

In an ongoing project, Tecomatic is using one of its larger dredgers to remove sediment from a pond facility. The work is an important part of restoring the ponds’ capacity and ensuring their continued efficient operation.

As sediment gradually accumulates in ponds, the available storage volume decreases, which can affect both capacity and performance.

In this project, one of Tecomatic’s larger dredgers is being used to remove sediment and restore the ponds’ capacity. The sediment is pumped through approximately 1.5 kilometres of pipeline to a dosing system, where treatment is continuously adjusted according to site conditions.

By combining dredging, dosing, and dewatering, an efficient and controlled process is achieved. The dredged material is dewatered in geotextile dewatering tubes before further handling.

This project demonstrates how several of Tecomatic’s technical disciplines work together to manage sediment and contribute to the long-term performance of critical infrastructure.
