A new quay and a larger port area are currently being built at the Port of Skellefteå by Peab on behalf of Skellefteå Municipality. The new quay creates opportunities for larger ships to dock and helps to strengthen logistics capacity in the region. To ensure long-term durability and protection against erosion, Peab has contracted Tecomatic to install concrete mattresses as erosion protection.
The quay, which is scheduled for completion in 2027, is part of a larger port area where extensive logistics areas are also being built. The port area will be the logistics center of northern Sweden and will include more than 60,000 square meters of material handling space upon completion. Sustainability is a major focus in this project, and as part of that, a sustainable and effective erosion protection is needed. Using Tecomatics concrete mattresses is considered the best solution to achieve this goal.

The assignment includes just over 7,800 sqm. concrete mattresses that will be filled with ECO-Concrete with a lower climate impact as the project has a clear sustainability profile. The installation of the concrete mattresses will begin in the fall of 2024 and be completed in 2025.
