Gästrike Vatten

Tecomatic has installed a screen basin for the treatment of stormwater in the Gavleån River and a concrete mattress that protects the riverbank from eroding away.

The client’s challenge

Erosion along the Gavleån River

Back in 2015, Järven Ecotech (now Tecomatic) was commissioned by Gästrike Vatten to install a sediment basin in the Gavleån River to treat stormwater. In the autumn of 2023, they encountered a new problem: parts of the riverbank along the Gavleån River had begun to erode. This also caused trees from the riverbank to fall onto the pier, which was damaged and therefore had to be replaced. The client contacted Tecomatic for assistance in restoring the sediment basin, as well as the riverbank, and in protecting it against further erosion.

Our solution

The optimal choice for long-term protection

We started by cleaning up eroded masses and trees. We then regraded the riverbank and installed erosion control using a concrete mattress. We used a filter point mattress (FP 200), which creates uniform pressure and features integrated filter points that allow stormwater to pass through without carrying away fine material. Finally, we replaced the damaged sections of the sediment basin and reinstalled it to treat stormwater.
